Also, obstructing the body also would block several internal antennae as well. It also prevents other items from being stacked on top of it which is a good thing as you do not want to cause overheating by doing so. It has 4 external antennae (more about that later) and has two rather pronounced bulges on the top, most likely for better cooling of the inner circuitry.
