Any way not a plug and play unit, this takes a lot of time and learning curve to master the programming. I do find I miss several of the voices my GR33 had not present in the 55. This unit is a great tool and has a lot of potential. Also made a couple Over the Hills patchs with a beautiful rich 12 string and ambient string voices. I have a fully orchestrated DADGAD (D-Modal) Kashmir patch that is a hoot to play with a LP mid position tone and a Fender Tweed with the two PCM string voices that generate the songs theme. So far I have rendered some great patches which do have a COSM guitar model but not high gains, just doing some rather cool stuff with alt tunings and the 12 string toggle which can be quite good. I program patches that I can use in tandem with my straight guitar chain tones which I plumb using a normal guitar cable and bypass the 55s guitar out rendering. I do not desire or want much guitar COSM modeling stuff. I am approaching the unit from somewhat a different perspective than most users I run into. I made this fun ambient rain and thunder patch with hold function on the wind and rain that is marvelous background for moody guitar. But the real fun is coming up with a cool idea yourself. I do find as usual 90% of the factory and most user exchange patches are useless for me. You can get your piano tracking perfect by adjusting some params. The chap who invented the Editor Floorboard software is also there. There are many tips and programming tweaks available on the V Guitar (GR55 sub forum) which explain how to get better piano tones and improve tracking and glitch issues. I'm wondering if it has to do something with the fact that the OSC synth must take a lot of processing power for the modeling process, which may compromise the pitch>midi processing?īeen programming my new GR55 the last few weeks and learning how to use all the features. But the GP-10 does track well when sending MIDI to a computer and using VI plugins. Looking back to having the GR-55, I think it was the case that the PCM sounds did track better. I have to say, I don't use the OSC synth in the GP-10 too much, as it doesn't track well as mentioned. It tracks amazingly well on both the GP10 and GR55. That's the one with the GR300, and the new added wave shaped on the GP-10. Still using MIDI to play the notes, just a different tone generator. It would be like the difference between a Roland JV-2020 and a Nord Lead. The OSC synth is like a PCM Pitch>MIDI synth, but uses a VA synth instead of a ROMpler. The OSC synth and the Wave synth are different processes. But the OSC synth has far more parameters, and can do hard-sync stuff like a Prophet or Jupiter, which I just LOVE. AFAIK, the OSC synth does not "track" - it processes the string sound, just like the GR300 model (which assume is just the same as in the GR55).
